Addis Ababa · since 1996
Thirty years in the same market.
Delta Instrument Technology PLC was founded in Addis Ababa in 1996. Thirty years of selling uptime rather than equipment is why it is still here, still run by people who answer the phone, and still working with the institution that bought its first analyser.
How a laboratory specialist became a technology partner
Delta Technology (Delta Instrument Technology PLC) has supplied, installed and maintained medical and laboratory technology across Ethiopia since 1996. What began as a diagnostic laboratory specialist working with Beckman Coulter has grown into a partnership with more than fifteen global manufacturers spanning clinical diagnostics, oncology, surgery, sterilization, research instrumentation and clean air.
More than 100 health institutions rely on Delta — among them Tikur Anbessa Specialised Hospital, St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College, the Ethiopian Public Health Institute, the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Service and the Federal Ministry of Health.
Delta's work rests on three linked practices. Supply brings verified international technology into the country. Field service keeps it operating, through a bench of engineers and a parts inventory held in Addis Ababa. Training transfers the capability to use it. The company is headquartered at Abyssinia Plaza, Bole Medhanialem, Addis Ababa.

What thirty years buys
Thirty years, still here.
Longevity is the service argument. Suppliers who do not service equipment do not last three decades in this market — their relationships end at the warranty. Delta's age is evidence of its behaviour, not just its survival.
- Founded 1996
- 100+ institutions
- 15 manufacturer partnerships
Engineers, not importers.
The difference is a bench of trained field engineers, a parts inventory held in Addis, and named response commitments. Lead with the people; the catalogue is the consequence.
- 20 field engineers
- Parts held locally
The world's instruments, locally accountable.
Beckman Coulter, Cepheid, Sago, Bruker, JEOL, Leica, Genano, Avantor, Medica, MYR. More than 15 manufacturers, one contract, one number to call. For an institution juggling suppliers, that consolidation has a price and it is worth paying.
- 15 partners
- One service contract
- One accountable name
We train the people, not just deliver the box.
Capability transfer is the most under-sold thing Delta does. A trained technologist is the difference between an instrument running well below its capacity and one running at full.
- On-site training
- Partner facility training
- Refresher programmes

How we work
We answer the phone
One number, one service email, and a person on the other end. Most calls are triaged the same day. If we cannot reach you quickly we say so at the point of the call rather than after it.
We publish targets, not promises
Response times, contract terms and lead times are written down and given to you before you sign. Where a part is not held in Ethiopia we tell you the real wait rather than the hopeful one.
We finish the installation properly
Delivery is not handover. An installation is complete when your technologists can run the instrument without us in the room, and the performance verification is signed.
We stay after the warranty
Thirty years of relationships exist because the work did not stop when the warranty did. The instruments we commissioned in the 1990s are the reason we are still here.

Who we work with
| Audience | What they need from us | What we give them |
|---|---|---|
| Laboratory directors & biomedical engineers | The people who live with the consequences of downtime. They want response times, parts availability, and evidence you have kept this exact model running elsewhere. | Specifications, service records, named engineers, honest limitations. |
| Hospital executives & procurement | Buying a decade of operation, not a machine. They want total cost of ownership, contract clarity, and the confidence that the supplier will outlive the warranty. | Thirty-year track record, contract tiers, institutional client list. |
| MoH, EPSS and tender committees | Compliance-driven and risk-averse. They want documentation, certification, and an unambiguous corporate identity that matches the paperwork. | Legal name, licences, registration, formal tone, complete documents. |
| Research institutes & universities | EPHI and the teaching hospitals. They want technical depth and access to specialists at the manufacturer, not a salesperson reading a brochure. | Applications support, technical literature, manufacturer access. |
| NGO & donor-funded programmes | Buying equipment they will hand to someone else to run. Their fear is stranded assets. | Training, service continuity, sustainability of the installation. |
